Le travail de SoiL Thornton s’est d’abord concentré sur la peinture, s’est élargi à l’installation et à la sculpture. La quête de l’identité est au cœur de son travail d’artiste. Les peintures cryptiques de Thornton sont des énigmes qui explorent un dialogue visuel entre un langage figuratif, fait de signes, qui tentent de communiquer avec un territoire abstrait, en incorporant peinture, dessin, collage et objets « ready made » récupérés.
