Xavier VEILHAN
Born in 1963, he lives and works in Paris
Xavier Veilhan has created an acclaimed body of work inspired by both classicism and high technology. 3D sculptures are at the heart of his whole work. His paintings are hybrid in nature: they take up the triangular shapes that make up the sculptures, each painted in one of the shades of the initial color and assembled like a puzzle. His work questions our perception and often generate an evolving ambulatory space in which the audience becomes an actor.
His work has been shown in various acclaimed institutions across the world, such as the Centre Georges Pompidou (Paris), Mamco (Geneva), the Phillips Collection (Washington), Mori Art Museum (Tokyo), and MAAT (Lisbon) and during famous exhibitions such as Veilhan Versailles (2009), his series Architectones (2012-2014) or Studio Venezia: the French Pavilion at the Biennale di Venezia (2017).
Xavier Veilhan’s work is often showcased in the public space, with sculptures occupying numerous cities across France and abroad, including Paris, Stockholm, New York, Shanghai and Seoul, among others.
