Né en 1977, il vit et travaille à New York.
Les peintures figuratives de Christian Curiel représentant des adolescents dans des actions banales, invitent le regardeur à imaginer ou revivre sa propre enfance. Chaque moment capturé par l’œuvre provoque chez le regardeur la recherche d’une narration de la scène représentée, en imaginant l’avant et l’après. Ses peintures montrent des moments de curiosité ou d’action qui peuvent paraître innocents ou malveillants selon les expériences personnelles de chacun.
Issu de l’école d’art de Yale, son travail a fait l’objet d’expositions solo en galeries et de groupe à la Fondation Cartier (Paris), au Bass Museum (Miami), au Museo del Barrio (New York).
