Né en 1981, il vit Hangzhou et Shanghai.
Il fait partie de la nouvelle génération d’artistes chinois internationaux qui ouvrent de nouvelles voies à l’art chinois. Son travail croise les références à la peinture d’histoire avec les événements médiatiques du monde contemporain, renvoyant de façon subtile aux ambiguïtés qui font la société chinoise contemporaine. Entretenant un jeu dialectique d’observation, Li Qing place l’artiste comme à l’intérieur et à l’extérieur de l’histoire.
